SURGERY

In the past few days, Dr. Eliécer Tello, together with a great medical team, performed thyroid and parathyroid surgery with technology. Indocyanine green fluorescence

Thyroid and parathyroid surgery with indocyanine green fluorescence (ICG) technology is a method that allows the surgeon to visualize the parathyroid glands in real time.

The procedure involves injecting the patient with ICG before surgery. During the operation, a special imaging system is used that detects the fluorescence emitted by the agent when illuminated with appropriate light.

The ICG is stimulated with a special probe so that it emits light that can be detected by infrared. This shows the vascularity of the parathyroid glands and guides surgeons to preserve them.
